Victim Identified in Hunt Avenue Homicide Investigation
Richmond Police detectives have officially identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred this week on Hunt Avenue. Authorities confirmed the deceased as 34-year-old Johnnita Russell, a Richmond resident.
The tragic incident unfolded late Monday evening. According to police, at approximately 9:33 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of Hunt Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they entered a residence and discovered Russell suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Richmond Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.
