Two Suspects Arrested After Shooting Inside Tulsa Walmart

TULSA, OK – A chaotic and terrifying scene unfolded late Tuesday night, April 1, 2025, when an active shooting incident erupted inside the Walmart located at 81st and Lewis. The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) responded swiftly, leading to the arrest of two suspects—Ryon Williams and Justice Rogers—following a dramatic pursuit.

The Incident Unfolds

At approximately 10:40 p.m., 911 dispatchers received a call about an active shooter situation inside the Walmart store. Officers rushed to the scene, forming a tactical team before entering the store to locate any victims or suspects.

Upon entry, officers encountered a visibly shaken victim, who revealed that he had been inside a bathroom stall when someone reached underneath and stole his bag. When the victim exited the stall, two men confronted him, and during the altercation, one suspect pulled out a firearm and opened fire.

Thankfully, the victim was not struck by the gunfire, but the gunshots triggered widespread panic throughout the store, leading to the 911 call reporting an active shooter.

Off-Duty Deputy Engages Suspects

As the suspects attempted to flee, they ran toward the store’s front exit, only to realize that the doors had been locked. They then turned back and ran deeper into the store.

At the same time, an off-duty Deputy working as a security officer for Walmart responded to the sound of gunfire. Near the registers, the Deputy spotted one of the suspects, dressed in all black and holding a pistol. Fearing for the safety of customers and employees, the Deputy fired at the suspect.

The two suspects then split up, running towards the back of the store and eventually escaping through a rear emergency exit.

Suspect Shot, Second Suspect Hiding Under Bridge

While investigators worked at the crime scene, a local hospital reported that a man had been dropped off with a gunshot wound to the torso. Police quickly identified him as one of the Walmart shooting suspects, 24-year-old Ryon Williams, who had been shot by the off-duty Deputy while attempting to flee.

Meanwhile, officers launched a massive search effort for the second suspect, Justice Rogers. With the help of the Tulsa Police Helicopter and a K9 Unit, officers located Rogers hiding under a bridge just north of the Walmart. He was quickly taken into custody.

Charges Filed Against Suspects

Following their arrests, both suspects faced multiple serious charges:

Ryon Williams was charged with:

  • Shooting with Intent to Kill
  • Possession of a Firearm by an Adjudicated Delinquent
  • Larceny

Ongoing Investigation
