Tragic Two-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Jacqueline Mills in Beauregard Parish

RAGLEY, LA — A devastating two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 171 in Beauregard Parish has claimed the life of 68-year-old Jacqueline Mills of Kinder, Louisiana. The fatal crash occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, and is currently under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop D.

According to the preliminary findings, Jacqueline Mills was operating a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and was traveling along the exit ramp of U.S. Highway 171, approaching the intersection with LA Hwy 12. At that same time, a 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 was traveling westbound on LA Hwy 12. For reasons still under investigation, Mills failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection, entering the path of the Dodge Ram. The Ram struck the driver’s side of the Chevrolet Tahoe in a forceful impact.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but Jacqueline Mills sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her sudden loss has left family, friends, and the Kinder community in mourning. A passenger riding in Mills’ vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported by emergency personnel to an out-of-area hospital for urgent medical care. Their current condition remains unknown.

The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries, while two additional passengers in the vehicle were uninjured. Fortunately, all individuals involved were properly restrained at the time of the crash, which likely prevented even further tragedy.

As part of standard procedure, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and have been submitted for analysis to determine if impairment played any role in the collision. The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still being examined, and Louisiana State Police have emphasized that the crash remains an active investigation.

A Stark Reminder About Intersection Safety

In the aftermath of this tragedy, State Police have issued a renewed plea to all motorists to use extreme caution when navigating intersections—especially those with limited visibility, heavy traffic, or high-speed roadways like LA Hwy 12 and US Hwy 171. Troopers urge drivers to always:

  • Come to a complete stop where required by signage or law.

  • Scan in all directions before proceeding through intersections.

  • Yield the right-of-way when appropriate.

  • Avoid distractions, including cell phone use, which can dramatically increase crash risk.

  • Maintain situational awareness and be prepared for unexpected movements from other vehicles.

“Tragedies like this are painful reminders that a split-second decision or momentary lapse can have irreversible consequences,” a spokesperson from Louisiana State Police Troop D said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Ms. Jacqueline Mills and urge the public to drive responsibly and defensively, particularly near intersections.”

Mourning a Life Lost

Jacqueline Mills was known in her community as a caring individual, a neighbor, and a loved one. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew her. Whether on the road or in everyday life, her family hopes her memory will serve as a solemn call for greater caution and attentiveness behind the wheel.

As the investigation continues, anyone with additional information about the crash is encouraged to reach out to Louisiana State Police Troop D.

This heartbreaking incident marks yet another fatality on Louisiana roads in 2025, underscoring the urgent need for safer driving practices and more awareness of traffic laws and conditions.
