Tragic Shooting Outside Memphis Restaurant Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A night that began with the promise of food, fun, and gathering ended in violence and heartbreak in Southeast Shelby County, as a shooting outside Cache 42 restaurant on Hacks Cross Road left one person dead and two others wounded on Saturday night.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies were dispatched around 10 p.m. to the 4200 block of Hacks Cross Road, where multiple gunshots had erupted in the parking lot of Cache 42 Kitchen & Cocktails, a popular nightlife and dining venue.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds: two adult males and a teenage victim. All three were immediately transported to local hospitals for emergency care.

  • Two victims were taken to Germantown Methodist Hospital, where they were listed in non-critical condition.

  • The third victim, who was reportedly in critical condition, was transported to Regional One Health. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending family notification.

A Community on Edge

The Saturday night shooting has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents expressing deep concern over the persistent violence plaguing Memphis, particularly in entertainment districts that should otherwise be safe spaces for families and friends to gather.

This incident marks yet another shooting at the same location—Cache 42—which was also the site of a New Year’s Eve shooting that left one man critically injured. That earlier incident had already raised alarm bells about safety at the venue.

Many in the community are now questioning whether enough is being done to ensure public safety at high-traffic nightlife destinations, and some are calling on local leadership to reevaluate security protocols and law enforcement presence in such areas.

Investigation Ongoing

As of Sunday morning, no suspects have been identified or taken into custody. The motive behind the shooting also remains unclear.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, conducting witness interviews, and seeking to determine whether the incident was targeted or the result of a dispute that escalated into gunfire.

“We are asking the public for help. If you were in the area or have any information—no matter how small—please reach out,” said an SCSO spokesperson. “Someone out there knows what happened.”

Broader Context: Memphis Murder Map 2025

This latest incident adds to a growing number of shootings that have been documented as part of the Memphis Murder Map 2025, which tracks violent crime trends throughout the city. With each new case, families are left grieving, and communities are left fearing for their safety.

The city continues to grapple with how best to tackle the root causes of gun violence—issues that often include poverty, limited access to mental health services, and the proliferation of illegal firearms.

A Call for Change

Local residents and community leaders are demanding urgent action. Some have taken to social media to share their frustrations, while others are planning community meetings and vigils to mourn the loss of life and demand reform.

Cache 42, once seen as a vibrant part of Southeast Memphis nightlife, now finds itself at the center of renewed scrutiny. While ownership has yet to release a public statement regarding the most recent tragedy, questions are being raised about whether security measures are sufficient to prevent future incidents.

As the investigation continues, one fact remains heartbreakingly clear: a life was lost, others were changed forever, and a community is once again left to pick up the pieces in the aftermath of senseless violence.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
