At approximately 4:35 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. Investigations revealed that a vehicle was traveling east on Bijou Street, while Hale was riding his motorcycle westbound in the left through lane. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, the vehicle began a left turn to head north onto I-25. The motorcycle entered the intersection and collided with the right side of the vehicle, ejecting both Hale and his passenger.

Members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department and American Medical Response provided immediate medical care to all three individuals involved. All were transported to a local hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to life-threatening. Tragically, Hale succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
