Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Two Lives in Glens Falls, New York
Glens Falls, NY – A high-speed motorcycle crash in the early hours of Saturday morning has claimed the lives of two people and prompted an ongoing investigation by the New York State Police. The crash occurred around 12:20 a.m. at the intersection of Bacon Street and Glen Street, following a failed traffic stop attempt by troopers in Queensbury.
The motorcycle, a high-performance sportbike, was being driven by Alex Morehouse, 38, of Warrensburg, with Suzie Etu, 38, of South Glens Falls, riding as a passenger. According to a statement from state police, the incident began when troopers observed the motorcycle speeding on State Route 9 near Hidden Farm Road and attempted a traffic stop. However, Morehouse allegedly failed to comply, continuing southbound at a high rate of speed.
For public safety reasons, troopers disengaged their pursuit at the intersection of State Route 9 and Lafayette Street. Not long after, Glens Falls Police officers spotted the motorcycle crash after it apparently struck a curb near the intersection of Bacon and Glen Streets.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but Morehouse was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. Etu was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries despite life-saving efforts. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, officials confirmed.
The New York State Attorney General’s Office has been notified, as is standard protocol when a fatal incident occurs following law enforcement contact. Representatives from the AG’s office were present at the crash scene and are participating in the investigative process alongside State Police.
The area surrounding the crash site was cordoned off for several hours early Saturday morning as investigators collected evidence and documented the scene. Traffic in the surrounding area was rerouted while police examined tire marks, skid patterns, and debris that might provide insights into the final moments before impact.
Friends and community members have since expressed deep sorrow at the sudden loss of Morehouse and Etu. Both were known locally — Morehouse for his work in the construction trades and Etu for her involvement in several volunteer efforts around South Glens Falls. Social media has since been flooded with tributes remembering their adventurous spirits and kind personalities.
Authorities have stated that speed was a significant factor in the crash. Toxicology reports are pending, and investigators are working to reconstruct the full timeline of events, including the exact speed the motorcycle was traveling and other contributing factors.
