Johnston, SC — The community is mourning the sudden loss of 53-year-old Jammy Weaver, a Johnston resident who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Friday night, May 16, 2025. The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 25 near Sweetwater Road in Aiken County, South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Weaver was traveling southbound on Edgefield Road (U.S. Highway 25) around 10:30 p.m. when his 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle collided with a low-hanging utility line. The line had reportedly fallen into the roadway after a traffic light pole was brought down, possibly by a passing semi-truck, though some accounts suggest the pole may have fallen independently .
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the accident. Despite their efforts, Weaver was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:10 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted next week in Newberry, South Carolina .
