Tragic Loss at Campbell Hall: 15-Year-Old Cosmo Silverman Remembered for His Kindness and Bright Spirit
The Campbell Hall Episcopal School community in Studio City, California, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 15-year-old student Cosmo Silverman, who died following a devastating accident on campus on Tuesday, June 4, 2025.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. in the school’s pickup area. Cosmo was walking toward his father’s car when he moved between two parked vehicles. One of the vehicles, a Rivian SUV, unexpectedly moved forward, pinning him between the cars. He was transported in critical condition to the trauma center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators are working to determine what caused the SUV to lurch forward. No immediate conclusions have been made regarding mechanical failure or driver error.
Cosmo’s sudden passing has left the tight-knit Campbell Hall community in shock. Grief counselors and school officials have been on hand to support students and staff as they process the loss of a classmate and friend. A school spokesperson stated, “Cosmo was a bright light in our community. His kindness, creativity, and joyful spirit touched many lives, and we are devastated by his sudden passing. Our hearts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.”
An outpouring of condolences has come from parents, students, and educators throughout Studio City, with many remembering Cosmo as a thoughtful and curious young man with a love for learning and a gentle presence. Plans are underway to honor Cosmo’s memory in the coming days, with more information about memorial services expected to be released by the family soon.
As the community grieves this unimaginable loss, Campbell Hall has pledged its full cooperation with the ongoing investigation. Cosmo’s life, though far too brief, left a lasting impression on those who knew him—a testament to the joy, kindness, and promise he brought into the world.
