Tragic Crash on KY-210 Claims Life of Campbellsville Teen, Injures Three Others

LARUE COUNTY, KY — A tragic single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon has left the community of Campbellsville in mourning after a 17-year-old teen was killed and three others were injured in a devastating accident on KY-210, east of Hodgenville.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. on June 15, prompting a response from the Larue County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and Kentucky State Police (KSP). According to a KSP news release, deputies initially requested trooper assistance at the scene, located near the 9000 block of KY-210—a rural stretch of highway not far from Hodgenville.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 17-year-old from Campbellsville was behind the wheel of a 2012 Infiniti sedan traveling eastbound when the vehicle unexpectedly left the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, the car struck a guardrail and rolled over multiple times before coming to rest in a nearby area off the road.

The Larue County Coroner’s Office sadly pronounced the 17-year-old driver dead at the scene, marking a heartbreaking and sudden end to a young life full of potential and promise. Their identity has not yet been officially released to the public pending notification of extended family members.

Three other individuals who were in the vehicle—including one adult and two other passengers—were transported to Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. Officials report that their injuries are non-life-threatening, though the emotional toll on those involved and their families is undoubtedly profound.

Authorities immediately closed down the section of KY-210 where the crash occurred for several hours on Sunday afternoon to allow law enforcement, emergency medical services, and investigators the space to conduct their work and safely clear the scene. The road has since reopened to traffic, but reminders of the tragedy linger in the hearts of those who live and travel through the area.

The Kentucky State Police continue to lead the investigation and have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to veer off the road. Investigators are expected to examine possible contributing factors, including road conditions, speed, mechanical failure, or distraction. At this time, no foul play or external collision has been reported.

A Community in Grief

The town of Campbellsville, known for its close-knit community and strong values, is grappling with the sorrow that comes with the loss of a young life. As news of the accident spreads, messages of condolence and support are being shared on social media by friends, classmates, and neighbors who are devastated by the sudden death.

“No one expects to say goodbye like this,” wrote one local resident. “We are heartbroken, and we are holding the families of everyone involved in our prayers.”

This tragedy marks yet another painful reminder of how quickly life can change on the road. Parents, educators, and community leaders are expected to come together in the coming days to offer grief support to students and loved ones impacted by the loss.

Plans for a memorial or vigil in honor of the teen are likely to be announced soon as the Campbellsville community prepares to honor the life of someone taken far too soon.

Anyone with further information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 4 at their Elizabethtown office as the investigation remains ongoing.

Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and community members mourning this tragic loss. May the memory of the young life lost bring comfort and strength to those left behind.
