Tragic Crash in Pemberville Claims Life of 56-Year-Old Estuardo Ordonez
Pemberville, OH – A quiet Wednesday morning turned tragic after a fatal two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 56-year-old Florida man. The collision occurred around 11 a.m. on State Route 105, just outside the village limits of Pemberville in Wood County.
According to an official press release from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved a Chrysler Town & Country minivan and a Honda Odyssey. Authorities report that the Chrysler was traveling westbound on SR-105 when it attempted to pass another vehicle. At the same time, the Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound on the same roadway.
In a heartbreaking sequence of events, both drivers attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid a head-on collision—but unfortunately, both swerved in the same direction. The result was a devastating crash.
Estuardo Ordonez, a 56-year-old passenger in the Honda Odyssey and a resident of Florida, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Despite life-saving efforts from first responders, nothing could be done to save him. His sudden and unexpected passing has left his family and loved ones shattered.
The driver of the Honda, whose name has not yet been released, sustained injuries and was airlifted to Toledo Hospital by emergency medical helicopter. Fortunately, their injuries have been described as non-life-threatening. The driver of the Chrysler was also injured and transported to Bay Park Hospital, likewise with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was temporarily closed as law enforcement, emergency responders, and crash reconstruction teams worked to process the scene. The wreckage was significant, and the emotional toll for witnesses and responders was profound.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation, and no further details—such as the identities of the drivers or potential contributing factors—have been released. Authorities are continuing to review evidence, interview witnesses, and determine whether charges may be filed.
Estuardo Ordonez’s death marks a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change on the road. Originally from Florida, Estuardo was described by those who knew him as a warm, kind-hearted man who loved his family deeply and carried a calming presence with him wherever he went. He had reportedly been visiting the area, and his tragic death has now left a lasting mark on two states—his home in Florida, and the community of northwest Ohio where he lost his life.
Loved ones are now mourning the loss of a cherished father, brother, friend, and colleague. His death adds to the growing toll of fatal crashes across the region, emphasizing the importance of cautious driving, especially when attempting to pass on rural highways.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
As the investigation continues, the community joins Estuardo Ordonez’s family in grieving this heartbreaking loss. Further information, including memorial services and updates from law enforcement, will be shared as it becomes available.
May Estuardo Ordonez rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find strength during this difficult time.
