Tragedy on Alamo Ranch Parkway: One Dead in Two-Vehicle Collision in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TX – A routine afternoon in San Antonio turned tragic on Wednesday as a fatal two-vehicle crash claimed one life and left another individual hospitalized. The accident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. along the 11700 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway, triggering an emergency response from Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and local rescue crews.
Authorities say deputies were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:29 p.m. following reports of a major crash with serious bodily injuries. Upon arrival, first responders discovered two severely damaged vehicles and immediately began life-saving efforts on one of the drivers, administering CPR at the scene. Despite their best efforts, one person was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
Another individual involved in the crash was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency medical care. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending next-of-kin notification. No details have been made available on the current condition of the hospitalized individual.
In response to the severity of the incident, BCSO has shut down westbound lanes of Alamo Ranch Parkway from Lone Star Parkway to the crash site. Law enforcement officers are currently redirecting traffic as accident reconstruction teams and investigators work to determine the cause of the collision.
The nature of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet clear whether speed, distraction, mechanical failure, or weather conditions played a role. Witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident are being urged to come forward with any information or dashcam footage that may aid in the ongoing investigation.
Local residents expressed sorrow and concern over the crash, which occurred in a busy area near shopping centers, schools, and residential neighborhoods. “This road is always busy around lunchtime. To hear that someone lost their life here is heartbreaking,” said Amanda Reyes, a resident who lives nearby. “You never expect something like this to happen right around the corner from your home.”
The Alamo Ranch area, one of the fastest-growing suburban corridors in San Antonio, has seen increased traffic congestion over the past few years. Community members and safety advocates have repeatedly called for additional traffic control measures, improved road signage, and enhanced patrol presence to ensure drivers remain cautious.
“This tragic incident underscores the importance of driving safely, especially in high-traffic corridors like Alamo Ranch Parkway,” a BCSO spokesperson said in a brief statement to the press. “We are continuing our investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.”
As the community mourns the life lost in Wednesday’s crash, BCSO has not provided a timeline for the reopening of the closed roadway but urges drivers to seek alternate routes and remain patient as the investigation proceeds.
