Upon arrival, officers discovered Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders provided medical assistance on the scene and quickly transported her to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Jeanette Johnson was described by friends and family as a warm, caring soul with a vibrant personality and a heart full of compassion. She was a mother, a sister, a daughter, and a friend to many in her community. Those close to her say she was known for her infectious laugh and willingness to help others, always placing family first.
“She was the kind of person who’d give you the shirt off her back,” said her cousin, Erica Moore. “She didn’t deserve this. None of us can believe she’s really gone.”
Johnson was also a dedicated employee at a local community outreach center, where she worked with youth and families facing hardship. Her colleagues say her loss will be felt not only by those who loved her personally but by the many lives she touched through her work.
“This is a heartbreaking reminder of the violence that continues to claim lives far too soon,” said Pastor Darrell Hughes, who lives just blocks from where the shooting occurred. “Jeanette was trying to make our city a better place. We can’t let her death be in vain.”
