Tragedy in Boynton Leisureville: Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedaise Identified as Victims in Double Homicide
BOYNTON BEACH, FL — The Boynton Beach community is reeling following a tragic double homicide that claimed the lives of two residents on Monday morning. The Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) has officially identified the victims as Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedaise, both 63 years old, who were found shot to death near 2000 SW 17th Street in the peaceful Boynton Leisureville neighborhood.
The incident unfolded around 10:51 a.m. on June 23, 2025, when police responded to a report of gunfire in the typically quiet, senior-oriented community. Upon arrival, Boynton Beach Fire Rescue pronounced both victims deceased at the scene. The shock of the violent crime has deeply disturbed neighbors and loved ones, who are struggling to make sense of the loss of two longtime community members.
Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedaise were known to many in Leisureville—a neighborhood defined by its tight-knit community and sense of calm. Described by neighbors as friendly, kind, and well-liked, their sudden and violent deaths have left a profound void in the lives of all who knew them. While the motive for the killings remains under investigation, the brutality of the act has left residents rattled and searching for answers.
In response to the violence, BBPD has ramped up its presence in the area, deploying increased patrols and continuing to canvas the neighborhood for witnesses or potential security footage. Their efforts are part of a larger initiative to reassure residents and restore a sense of safety in the wake of this senseless crime.
Shortly after the shooting occurred, witnesses reported seeing a Black man running westbound from the vicinity of the crime. According to the BBPD, the man was described as approximately 5’10”, with short black hair, and wearing all black clothing at the time of the incident. Authorities have since identified a person of interest, though they have not released a name. Investigators are pursuing all leads and are calling on the public for assistance in helping to solve this case.
“We are asking anyone who may have seen something, heard something, or has access to surveillance footage to please come forward,” said a BBPD spokesperson. “Even the smallest detail may be critical in helping us understand what happened and who is responsible.”
