Tim Cayler, 54, of Willmar, MN, Tragically Killed in Bicycle Accident: Lake Lillian Community Mourns Beloved Resident
The communities of Lake Lillian and Willmar, Minnesota, are mourning the sudden and tragic loss of 54-year-old Tim Cayler, who died on the evening of Wednesday, June 4, 2025, following a bicycle accident in Whitefield Township, Kandiyohi County.
According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:37 p.m. on 120th Avenue SE, just east of 15th Street SE. Cayler was riding his bicycle eastbound when a 2013 Chrysler minivan, also heading east and driven by a 59-year-old Lake Lillian woman, attempted to pass him by moving into the westbound lane. During that maneuver, Cayler also entered the westbound lane and was struck by the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders from the Blomkest Fire Department, Blomkest First Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene. The crash remains under active investigation.
Cayler, a longtime resident of Lake Lillian, was remembered by friends and family as a devoted husband, a man of deep faith, and a kind, thoughtful presence in the lives of many. He was the son-in-law of Jackie and Tim, who shared the heartbreaking news in a message to friends and loved ones.
“It is with great sadness that I tell you that Tim passed away from an accident while bike riding near his home last night,” the message read. “He is now in eternal glory with his Father in heaven… Please keep his family in your prayers. May he rest in peace.”
Known for his warmth, humility, and love for the outdoors, Cayler found joy in simple things — a quiet bike ride, a conversation with friends, or time spent with loved ones. He had a special gift for making people feel seen and valued and was cherished in both his church and local community circles.
Friends say Cayler was a man of quiet faith and consistent kindness. “Tim didn’t just talk about what mattered — he lived it,” one neighbor shared. “He was the type of person who helped without needing to be asked.”
In addition to being active in his faith community, Cayler maintained a strong connection with friends and family online, where he valued staying in touch with those near and far. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed.
As the investigation into the crash continues, the community has come together to support his family with an outpouring of love, remembrance, and prayer.
