Suspect Arrested for First-Degree Murder in Fatal Intimate Partner Violence Incident

The Windsor Police Service has formally charged 29-year-old Daniel Nathaniel Assing with first-degree murder following a tragic case of intimate partner violence that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman early Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on November 12, 2025, patrol officers observed a vehicle being driven recklessly in the area of Chatham Street East and Goyeau Street. The driver was stopped and arrested for stunt driving, a serious traffic offence. During the arrest, officers immediately noticed that the suspect, later identified as Assing, had a large amount of dried blood on his face, hands, and clothing.

Recognizing the potential severity of the situation, police initiated an urgent investigation. Their inquiries led them to a residence in the 1100 block of Langlois Avenue, where officers made a devastating discovery — a woman was found unresponsive and showing no vital signs. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and the victim was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, she was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Investigators determined that the woman and the suspect were intimate partners, and that the incident was a domestic-related homicide. Based on the evidence gathered, Daniel Nathaniel Assing has been charged with first-degree murder. He remains in police custody and will appear in court for arraignment.

This heartbreaking event marks the fourth homicide in Windsor in 2025, and police say that no further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities expressed their condolences to the victim’s loved ones, acknowledging the deep pain this loss brings to the community.

“Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence,” Windsor Police stated. “We are committed to seeking justice for the victim and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.”
