The Starkville Police Department is investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, leaving one man dead and his partner facing a First Degree Murder charge.

Incident Details

At approximately 12:57 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Gladney Street after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered Tykell Harvey, 27, of Starkville, suffering from stab wounds. Tragically, Harvey was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical personnel.

Following initial interviews and evidence collection, investigators determined that the victim and the suspect were involved in a dating relationship. The suspect, identified as Amiya Brown, 28, of Starkville, was taken into custody without incident.

Brown has been formally charged with First Degree Murder and is currently being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail as she awaits her first court appearance.

While authorities have not released the full details surrounding the events that led to Harvey’s death, they have emphasized the serious nature of intimate partner violence.
