Reya Jasmin Charged in Plaistow Suspicious Death; Victim Identified
PLAISTOW, N.H. — Authorities have released new details in connection with a suspicious death that occurred in Plaistow on May 18.
New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella, State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Plaistow Police Chief John Santoro announced that Reya N. Jasmin, 36, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of her spouse, Margaret Jasmin, 39.
At approximately 6:13 a.m. Sunday, Plaistow police responded to a 911 call at a residence on Old County Road. Upon entering the home, officers found Margaret Jasmin deceased on the floor with what appeared to be a stab wound. During a search of the residence, police located Reya Jasmin, who was partially responsive and suffering from multiple injuries.
Reya Jasmin was transported to an out-of-state hospital, where she remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that a child residing in the home was physically unharmed and is safe.
An arrest warrant was issued Friday night charging Reya Jasmin with one count of second-degree murder under RSA 630:1-b, I(b), for recklessly causing the death of Margaret Jasmin. An arraignment will be scheduled at a later date, pending Reya Jasmin’s medical condition.
An autopsy on Margaret Jasmin is scheduled to take place later today. Authorities said additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
The charge against Reya Jasmin is an allegation, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
