Remembering JJ Bolton: A Beloved Leader, Mentor, and Friend
The Central Loudoun Little League (CLLL) community is deeply mourning the unexpected passing of JJ Bolton, a devoted leader, mentor, coach, and friend whose love for baseball and dedication to young athletes shaped the lives of countless children and families. JJ passed away last weekend, leaving behind not only cherished memories but also an enduring legacy that will forever be etched into the heart of our baseball community.
For more than a decade, JJ served faithfully on the CLLL Board of Directors, holding positions as Coaching Coordinator, Vice President, and eventually, President. His leadership was never about titles but about passion—passion for the game of baseball, for the growth of young players, and for building a community that extended far beyond the diamond.
As a coach and manager, JJ guided numerous regular season and All-Star teams, inspiring athletes with his unique blend of knowledge, encouragement, and unwavering support. One of his proudest moments came in 2018, when he managed the District 16-winning 10–11 All-Star team in the Virginia State Tournament. Yet, JJ’s victories were never measured only in trophies or titles. For him, true success came in teaching players the value of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.
JJ’s impact on youth baseball extended far beyond Central Loudoun. He was instrumental in the creation of District 16’s Middle School Program and the development of the Rookie Machine Pitch division, programs that continue to benefit players today. Most recently, he oversaw the district’s Big Field program, always keeping the players’ best interests at the center of every decision.
One of JJ’s most lasting contributions to CLLL was his vision for the covered batting cage at Founders Field in Good Times Park. Spearheaded by JJ and generously funded by the Bolton family, the facility ensured that players had a place to train year-round. It was a true labor of love, born out of JJ’s belief that children deserved every opportunity to grow both as athletes and as people.
For JJ, Good Times Park was more than just a baseball field—it was a second home. His truck, and the unmistakable sound of its horn, became an iconic part of the park’s atmosphere, a reminder that JJ was there, watching, teaching, and cheering on young players. His presence was as constant and dependable as his encouragement, and his influence will be felt on those fields for generations to come.
Even after his tenure at CLLL, JJ continued to pour his heart into the game. He served as President of the Aces Travel Baseball Organization, further strengthening partnerships and creating opportunities for players to continue their development. No matter the role, JJ’s mission was always the same: to share his love of the game and to positively shape the lives of the young athletes under his care.
As we grieve this tremendous loss, we remember JJ not only for his leadership and vision but also for the kindness, humor, and warmth he brought to every interaction. He was a devoted husband to Jennifer and a proud father to Kaitlin and Christian, his greatest joys and his most important team. Our hearts are with them in this unimaginable time of sorrow, and we ask that the community keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
JJ Bolton’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will continue to live on—in the batting cages he built, in the programs he created, in the teams he led, and in the countless lives he touched.
“As you look down from heaven onto all of the fields you ever set foot upon, we hope you smile at the lives you have touched and the legacy you have left. Rest easy, Coach JJ.”
