The Old Dominion University (ODU) community is mourning the loss of Haley Rineer, a former standout player for the ODU Women’s Lacrosse team, who passed away at the age of 28. Haley’s dedication on the field and her warm, supportive nature off it left an indelible mark on her teammates, coaches, and friends.
A Stellar Lacrosse Career
Haley’s passion for lacrosse was evident from her high school days. As a four-year varsity starter, she amassed an impressive 247 points, leading her team to their first-ever Mid-Penn Conference championship. Her senior year was particularly remarkable, topping the conference with 105 points on 68 goals and 37 assists. This outstanding performance paved the way for her recruitment to ODU, where she continued to shine.
During her time with the Monarchs, Haley’s contributions were significant. In her freshman year, she played in three games, recording two goals and an assist. Her sophomore year saw her competing in six games, tallying two goals and four assists, along with notable defensive stats. Her commitment to the sport and her team was unwavering, making her a beloved figure both on and off the field.
