Quadruple Shooting in Antioch Leaves Two Dead, Teen Among the Injured

A late-night shooting in Antioch on Thursday claimed the lives of two men and left two others wounded, including a 15-year-old boy, according to the Antioch Police Department. The incident unfolded near the intersection of D Street and West 19th Street at around 10:21 p.m., after police received multiple reports of gunfire.

Scene of the Shooting

When officers arrived, they discovered four people suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, two men—aged 34 and 42—were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy, who police said sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to a nearby hospital after receiving initial treatment from first responders. Contra Costa Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Craig Auzenne confirmed the teen was conscious and able to speak with medics before being rushed into emergency care. He was last reported in critical condition.

A 36-year-old man was also taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Unanswered Questions

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Antioch police have not released information on any suspects, nor have they confirmed whether the attack was targeted or random. In their initial statement, officials did not mention if they were searching for a shooter.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the deceased, pending notification of their families.

Community Impact

The shooting has rattled residents in the area, where reports of violence have heightened concerns in recent months. Neighbors described hearing a rapid series of gunshots that shattered the night’s quiet. Several residents came outside to find flashing police lights filling the street as investigators cordoned off the area with crime scene tape.

Community leaders and advocates have urged calm while also calling for answers. “Any loss of life is tragic, but when it involves young people and families in our city, the pain is felt deeply,” one local pastor said Friday morning.

Next Steps in the Investigation

Detectives with the Antioch Police Department’s Investigations Bureau are leading the case. Authorities are asking anyone with surveillance footage, dashcam video, or information related to the shooting to come forward.

Police confirmed that evidence technicians remained at the scene into the early morning hours of Friday, documenting the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses.

Ongoing Concern Over Violence

The incident adds to a growing list of violent crimes reported in Contra Costa County this year. City officials and law enforcement have pledged to strengthen community policing efforts and expand youth outreach programs to address the root causes of gun violence.

For now, Antioch residents are left mourning two lives lost and praying for the recovery of the teenage victim and the surviving man.
