ST. LOUIS, Mo. — A violent shooting in north St. Louis on Saturday afternoon has left one man dead and another critically wounded, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
At approximately 2:31 p.m. on September 27, 2025, officers from the 6th District responded to reports of gunfire in the 5300 block of Ruskin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both men were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, one victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. The second victim remains hospitalized with injuries described as critical.
Police confirmed that Homicide Division detectives have taken over the investigation, working to determine the circumstances that led up to the shooting. At this stage, no arrests have been announced, and officials have not said whether they have identified any suspects or motives.
The 5300 block of Ruskin Avenue, located in a residential neighborhood on the city’s north side, was heavily patrolled Saturday afternoon as investigators canvassed the area, speaking with potential witnesses and gathering evidence. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in solving the case.
The incident has further heightened concerns among residents about ongoing violence in the city. Community leaders continue to call for cooperation between neighbors and law enforcement to help reduce shootings and bring justice for victims and their families.
