MERIDIAN, Miss. — A grim milestone was reached in Meridian early Friday morning as the city recorded its 11th homicide of 2025, following a deadly shooting that claimed the life of Tavis Brown and left another individual injured. According to officials with the Meridian Police Department, officers responded to two separate shooting scenes within minutes of each other — one in the 2300 block of 25th Avenue, and the other on PSD (Public Safety Drive). At the 25th Avenue location, police found Tavis Brown, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
