Motorcyclist Airlifted After Serious Crash in Neelyville
NEELYVILLE, Mo. — A serious crash on U.S. Highway 67 in Neelyville Wednesday evening, September 3, left a motorcyclist with severe injuries and in need of emergency air transport to an out-of-state hospital.
According to Sgt. Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the collision involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck and was reported in the early evening hours. Responding troopers confirmed that the motorcyclist sustained critical injuries and required immediate airlift to a Memphis, Tennessee hospital for advanced treatment.
An official MSHP crash report identified the motorcyclist as 27-year-old Tyler Anderson, who was riding southbound when his motorcycle struck the rear of a pickup truck. The truck, driven by a 46-year-old Neelyville man, sustained only minor damage in the impact, and the driver was unharmed.
Authorities noted that Anderson had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, a factor that may have prevented the incident from becoming fatal. Despite that precaution, the severity of the impact caused significant trauma and left his motorcycle completely totaled.
Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, providing first aid and stabilizing Anderson before arranging for his transport via air ambulance. Traffic along U.S. 67 was slowed for a period as troopers investigated and cleared the crash site.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Preliminary findings indicate that Anderson’s motorcycle struck the rear of the pickup, though it is not yet clear whether speed, visibility, or roadway conditions played a role.
This crash is a stark reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on busy highways, where even the smallest misjudgment or sudden stop can have devastating consequences. Troopers continue to emphasize the importance of safe following distances and defensive driving practices, particularly when motorcycles share the road with larger vehicles.
For now, the community’s thoughts and prayers remain with Tyler Anderson, as he continues to fight through serious injuries sustained in the crash.
