Milwaukee Tragedy: 7-Year-Old Jamal White Found Dead After Amber Alert Issued Following Violent Abduction
MILWAUKEE, WI — A devastating tragedy has rocked the Milwaukee community as 7-year-old Jamal White, the subject of a statewide Amber Alert, was found dead just hours after he was abducted at gunpoint near his home.
The young boy was reported missing around 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11, in the area of 62nd Street and Hustis Street, where he had been walking with his father after a visit to a nearby park. According to Milwaukee police, four armed men wearing face masks pulled up in a white Jeep Renegade SUV with no visible license plates. Witnesses say the men confronted Jamal and his father before forcibly taking the child at gunpoint.
Jamal’s aunt, speaking to WISN 12 News, recounted the chilling details: “They had guns. They all had on black. You couldn’t see their faces. They just snatched him and drove off. It happened so fast… My brother, Jamal’s dad, was right there. He couldn’t stop them.”
As the frantic search for Jamal unfolded throughout the evening, law enforcement agencies across the state issued an Amber Alert and deployed all available resources to locate the boy and the suspects. Flyers circulated across social media, and community members began canvassing the area. Unfortunately, the desperate search ended in heartbreak.
Early Saturday morning, Milwaukee police confirmed the tragic discovery: Jamal White was found deceased. Authorities have not released details about the location or circumstances of where his body was found, citing an active and ongoing investigation. No suspects have been taken into custody as of Saturday evening.
The news has left Milwaukee shaken and grieving. A growing memorial of candles, teddy bears, and handwritten notes now lines the sidewalk near Jamal’s home, where neighbors, friends, and complete strangers have gathered to pay tribute to the innocent boy whose life was cut short by a brutal act of violence.
“He was such a sweet, energetic child. He loved dinosaurs, he loved his bike, and he always smiled,” said a family friend through tears. “This should never have happened.”
Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the suspects or explain why Jamal was targeted. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the neighborhood and nearby intersections and are asking residents in the area to check their security cameras for any potential leads.
“We are committed to finding the individuals responsible for this unspeakable crime,” Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said in a statement. “We urge anyone who may have seen or heard anything — no matter how small — to contact our detectives.”
Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to call 911, or reach out to the Milwaukee Police Department at (414) 935-7242.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant. A reward may be offered for tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.
As the community mourns and calls for justice, Jamal White’s name will not be forgotten — a young boy who should have been safe, who should have been protected, and whose life deserves answers.
