Midvale Murder-Suicide Victims Identified as Eilleen and Terry Lyon
Authorities have released the identities of the two individuals found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Midvale, Utah earlier this week.
According to the Unified Police Department (UPD), officers were dispatched to a residence near 7500 South Jefferson Street on Tuesday morning, at approximately 11:13 a.m., after receiving a request for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers discovered two deceased individuals inside the home.
The victims have since been identified as Eilleen Lyon, 65, and Terry Lyon, 63.
Investigation
UPD confirmed in a statement that detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and members of the forensics team conducted a detailed on-scene investigation. Early findings point to the incident being a murder-suicide, though officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the deaths.
Authorities have not reported any ongoing threat to the public and emphasized that the investigation remains active as they work to piece together the events that took place.
Community Shock
The discovery has left neighbors and community members shaken. The quiet residential neighborhood, typically known for its calm environment, became the center of a heavy police presence throughout Tuesday as investigators worked the scene.
While police have not shared details about a possible motive, tragedies like this often serve as a somber reminder of the importance of mental health support and community resources for those in crisis.
Past Coverage
This case follows initial reports earlier in the week when UPD first confirmed that two bodies had been found inside a Midvale home. Moving Forward
As investigators continue their work, the Unified Police Department has encouraged anyone struggling with thoughts of self-harm or violence to reach out for help. Community members are encouraged to lean on available resources and support networks during this difficult time.
