Mass Shooting in South Dallas Leaves Eight Injured, Two Critically

DALLAS, TX — A mass shooting in South Dallas on Thursday evening has left eight individuals injured, with two in critical condition. The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of Lenway Street and Malcolm X Boulevard, close to a local convenience store commonly referred to as the “yellow store.” 

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 2700 block of Lenway Street. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Seven victims were transported to nearby hospitals, with two reported in critical condition. An eighth victim was also hospitalized, though details about their condition remain undisclosed. 

Preliminary investigations suggest that unknown suspects opened fire on a group of individuals at the scene. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the identities of the victims have not been released. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. 

The area surrounding the crime scene was cordoned off as detectives and crime scene units conducted their investigation. The shooting has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting calls for increased safety measures and community engagement to address the underlying issues contributing to such violence.
