Man Found Dead at Hillsborough Nature Preserve, Authorities Investigating
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) confirmed that a man was found dead Friday morning at the edge of a parking lot near the Brumley North Nature Preserve.
The victim has been identified as Calvin Demond Smith-Taylor, 36, of Durham. Deputies say Smith-Taylor’s body was discovered just before 7:30 a.m. by someone in the area, prompting an immediate law enforcement response.
According to OCSO, Smith-Taylor had been reported missing by his loved ones to the Durham Police Department the day before, on Thursday. His sudden disappearance and subsequent discovery have left his family and community searching for answers.
Investigators are now working to determine both the time of death and the cause of death. Authorities have not released any indication of foul play at this stage, though detectives are carefully examining the circumstances surrounding his death.
