Mahnomen County, Minn. – Authorities Identify Victims in Two Separate Fatal Crashes

Mahnomen County law enforcement officials have released the identities of individuals involved in two separate fatal motor vehicle crashes that occurred on Tuesday. The incidents, which claimed the lives of two individuals, have left the local community in shock and mourning.

The first crash involved a 17-year-old driver, Cash Tibbetts, of Waubun. Details surrounding this incident have not yet been fully disclosed, but authorities confirmed that Tibbetts was fatally injured. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the contributing factors.

Later that same day, a second tragic crash occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. on Highway 200 near the Mahnomen/Norman County line. According to reports from law enforcement, a westbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Chance Keezer collided with a tractor that was towing a piece of equipment. The impact of the collision proved fatal for the passenger in Keezer’s vehicle, identified as Robert Keezer Sr., who died at the scene from his injuries. Authorities have not released additional information about the driver’s condition or the specific circumstances leading to the crash.

Both incidents have prompted a renewed call from local authorities for drivers to exercise caution on area roadways. Highway safety remains a priority for Mahnomen County law enforcement, particularly during periods of increased traffic or adverse weather conditions. Investigators are continuing to examine both crashes to determine the precise causes and whether any additional factors, such as speed, road conditions, or vehicle issues, contributed to the tragedies.

Members of the Mahnomen County community have expressed their condolences to the families affected by these incidents. Local officials have emphasized the importance of safe driving and vigilance, urging residents to be aware of other vehicles, agricultural equipment, and changing road conditions, especially on rural highways.

Authorities have not yet announced if charges will be filed in connection with either crash. Law enforcement continues to collect evidence and interview witnesses as part of their ongoing investigations. Anyone with information regarding these incidents is encouraged to contact the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office.

These back-to-back tragedies serve as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with driving, particularly in rural areas where large equipment and high-speed traffic can create dangerous conditions. Community leaders and law enforcement officials are urging drivers to remain attentive, follow traffic laws, and prioritize safety to prevent further loss of life on the roads.
