MACON, Ga. — Community in Mourning After Triple Fatal Shooting on Williams Street

The city of Macon is reeling after a violent Saturday night shooting left three people dead, marking one of the most devastating acts of gun violence the community has faced this year. According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 1100 block of Williams Street around 10:25 p.m. after 911 dispatchers received a call reporting a shooting victim.

When officers arrived, they learned that a 27-year-old man had been shot and taken to a local hospital for emergency care. Tragically, medical personnel later confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries. As the investigation unfolded, authorities discovered two additional victims at the scene, both suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed that three men were killed in total. Two of the victims have been identified as brothers — 21-year-old Brandon Thomas and 27-year-old Quantayris Townsend — both beloved members of their community. The third victim, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, is currently listed as John Doe pending next-of-kin notification.

“This is heartbreaking,” Coroner Jones said in a late-night update. “Anytime you have multiple lives lost like this, especially two brothers, it’s just devastating. The family is going through something no one should ever have to endure.”

Authorities have not released details about a possible motive or suspect at this time. Detectives with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office’s Violent Crimes Unit are actively investigating and interviewing witnesses in the area. Several shell casings were recovered from the scene, and law enforcement officers worked through the night gathering evidence and canvassing for surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses.

The deadly shooting has left residents of the Williams Street area shaken and grief-stricken. Many described the Thomas-Townsend brothers as kind, hardworking young men who were close to their family and well-known in the community. “They were always together,” said one neighbor. “You never saw one without the other. It’s unreal to think they’re both gone.”

As news of the tragedy spreads, community members are calling for unity and peace, urging an end to the senseless violence that continues to claim young lives across Macon-Bibb County.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact investigators at 478-751-7500 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME. Anonymous tips that lead to arrests may be eligible for a cash reward.

This heartbreaking loss has left a deep scar on the Macon community. Friends and loved ones of Brandon Thomas and Quantayris Townsend have begun planning vigils and memorials in their honor — two brothers whose lives were cut short far too soon.

As the investigation continues, residents are left clinging to memories, praying for justice, and hoping for peace in a community that has suffered far too much tragedy.
