Llano County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Homicide in Blue Lake Community

LLANO COUNTY, Texas — A tragic incident has shaken the Blue Lake community after authorities confirmed the death of Glenna Whitmarsh, who was discovered deceased Friday afternoon in her residence on Blue Waters Drive.

According to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), deputies responded to the 200 block of Blue Waters Drive at approximately 2:16 p.m. on September 12, 2025, following a report of a homicide. Officers from the Horseshoe Bay Police Department also assisted at the scene.

Upon arrival, investigators located Whitmarsh and confirmed her death. The scene was immediately secured, and the LCSO Criminal Investigations Division, working alongside the Texas Rangers, initiated a comprehensive investigation. A search warrant was obtained for the residence as part of the ongoing inquiry.

As the investigation unfolded, evidence led authorities to arrest the victim’s daughter, Dana Lynne Meador, in connection with the homicide. Meador has been formally charged with Murder and is currently being held in the Llano County Jail on a $750,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that this was an isolated incident, assuring residents that there is no ongoing threat to the public. While the motive behind the crime has not been disclosed, officials have confirmed that this remains an active and ongoing investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

The news of Whitmarsh’s death has sent ripples of shock and grief throughout the Blue Lake community. Neighbors and friends described the area as typically quiet and close-knit, making the events of Friday especially difficult to comprehend.

In a public statement, LCSO expressed condolences: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Ms. Whitmarsh during this incredibly difficult time.”

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide, and updates will be shared as more information becomes available.

For now, Blue Lake residents mourn the loss of Glenna Whitmarsh while also grappling with the reality that the tragedy has struck so close to home.
