KUNA, Idaho — A tragic incident unfolded Monday afternoon in Kuna when a woman lost her life in Indian Creek, prompting a large emergency response.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Kuna Police deputies were dispatched to the area of North Thistle Drive and West Navy Street around 4:10 p.m. on September 1 following reports of a possible water rescue. When first responders arrived, they quickly realized the severity of the situation. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team was called in, and after a search effort, they recovered the victim’s body from the creek.

Officials confirmed there were no signs of foul play involved in the case. On Wednesday, September 3, the Ada County Coroner formally identified the victim as 45-year-old Carolyn Beck, a resident of Kuna. The coroner determined her cause of death was drowning.

The incident drew a significant response from multiple emergency agencies. Alongside the sheriff’s deputies and dive team, Ada County Paramedics, Eagle Fire, Kuna Fire, and Meridian Fire departments all assisted in the rescue and recovery operation.

The sudden and heartbreaking loss has left the local community shaken. Indian Creek, a well-known waterway running through the Kuna area, is often a place where families gather, but Monday’s events served as a sobering reminder of the dangers waterways can pose, even for experienced swimmers or individuals familiar with the area.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances that led to Beck entering the water, but they stressed that no criminal activity is suspected.

As friends, neighbors, and loved ones mourn Beck’s untimely passing, community members are extending condolences to her family while reflecting on the importance of water safety. Emergency responders who worked tirelessly on the scene also expressed their sympathies for the tragic outcome despite their coordinated efforts.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the investigation is officially closed, with drowning confirmed as the sole cause of death.
