In a desperate effort to bring those responsible to justice, they have reached out to OSM to share his story and keep attention on the case.
According to the New Haven Police Department, the shooting occurred around 3:23 p.m. in the rear parking lot of 730 George Street. Investigators believe Christopher had been driving his vehicle with another male passenger when he pulled into the lot. Shortly after parking, two masked men approached the vehicle. Without warning, one of the assailants opened fire, striking Christopher before both suspects fled the scene on foot.
Police and emergency responders arrived within minutes after multiple 911 calls reported a person shot. Officers took over life-saving measures until AMR paramedics arrived and rushed him to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Despite their efforts, Christopher succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. His death has left his family and community reeling with grief.
Detectives have not publicly identified a motive, but early findings suggest this was an isolated incident. The second man who was with Christopher has not been reported injured, and his role — if any — has not been disclosed.
