In Memory of Sgt. Ean Esposito

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the Berea Police Department shares the tragic news of the passing of one of our valued members, Sgt. Ean Esposito. Sgt. Esposito suffered an unexpected medical emergency and passed away early this morning, leaving a void in our department and our community that can never be filled. His passing is a tremendous loss, not only to our police department but to everyone who had the privilege of working with him or being touched by his generosity, dedication, and passion for serving others.

Sgt. Esposito’s journey with the Berea Police Department began in 2011, and from that moment, he became a cornerstone of the department. He served in numerous roles throughout his distinguished career, each one demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his colleagues and the community he swore to protect. Sgt. Esposito was a valued member of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau, a skilled field training officer, and a dedicated community engagement officer. In addition to these roles, he also served as a school resource officer, where he made a lasting impact on the lives of students and staff alike. His expertise extended to defensive tactics, where he served as a respected instructor, and he played a crucial role as the department’s range officer.

One of Sgt. Esposito’s most significant contributions was his work in updating the department’s emergency operation plan, ensuring that the department and the community were prepared for any crisis. His meticulous attention to detail and dedication to preparedness were evident in every project he took on. His tireless work ethic and thoughtful approach to his duties were a testament to the high standards he set for himself and others.

Beyond his work with the Berea Police Department, Sgt. Esposito was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he demonstrated the same commitment, integrity, and leadership that he would carry with him throughout his law enforcement career.

Sgt. Esposito was known for his engaging spirit, a personality that could light up any room and make everyone feel valued. Whether he was interacting with the public, training new officers, or working alongside his fellow officers, Sgt. As we mourn the loss of Sgt. Esposito, we ask that you keep his family, friends, and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Sgt. Esposito’s family has requested that, in lieu of donations directly to them, any requests for contributions be directed to the West Tactical Officer Foundation. This foundation will ensure that the family receives the support they need as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.
