In Memoriam: Firefighter Mason Kraese

It is with profound sadness that the Chief’s Office announces the passing of Firefighter Mason Kraese, who has answered his last alarm. The news of his passing has left a deep void within the department, the community he so faithfully served, and among the many friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.

Firefighter Kraese was more than a dedicated public servant—he was a brother, a mentor, and a true example of courage and selflessness. Throughout his career, he embodied the highest traditions of the fire service, responding to every call with unwavering commitment and a steadfast desire to protect others. His loyalty to his department and his community stood as a testament to his character, earning him respect from colleagues and gratitude from countless residents.

The Chiefs Office extends its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Kraese and Steenson families during this time of unimaginable loss. We grieve with them and hold them close in our hearts, honoring Mason’s legacy of bravery and sacrifice. In the fire service, we often speak of the brotherhood and sisterhood that unites us all. Mason was the embodiment of that bond, and his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Wake and funeral arrangements will be shared with the community once they become available, so that friends, family, and fellow firefighters may gather to pay tribute and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much of himself. Until then, the department asks the community to keep the Kraese and Steenson families in their prayers and to honor Mason’s life by remembering his dedication, his kindness, and his unwavering service.

Rest in peace, Brother Kraese. Your duty is complete, your watch is over. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
