In Loving Memory of Those Lost on Bennock Mill Road
Augusta, GA — The community of Augusta is grieving deeply following a heartbreaking discovery made on Sunday, November 2, 2025, when three individuals were found deceased inside a residence on the 600 block of Bennock Mill Road. The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the tragic incident has been classified as a double homicide–suicide, a devastating event that has left family members, neighbors, and the city at large in sorrow and disbelief.
The Coroner’s report released the identities of two of the three individuals who lost their lives:
- Carmen Ray, 77, of Augusta
 - Sheri Methvin, 55, of Augusta

The third individual, also an adult female, has not yet been publicly identified pending a positive confirmation. Loved ones await the final identification with heavy hearts, holding onto memories and hoping for clarity during a time filled with grief and questions.
This tragedy reaches beyond the home in which it occurred — it touches multiple families, circles of friends, and an entire community struggling to understand how such unimaginable loss could unfold in silence, behind closed doors. A home that once may have echoed with conversation, shared meals, routines, love, and connection is now at the center of grief, heartbreak, and unanswered questions.
Remembering Carmen Ray
At 77, Carmen was a woman likely filled with years of lived experiences, stories, and love shared with those around her. The loss of an elder carries a special heaviness — a life so intertwined with generations, memories, and guidance. Her presence in the world mattered, and to those who loved her, the void left behind will be felt with every memory recalled and every moment where her wisdom or warmth would have been.
Remembering Sheri Methvin
At 55, Sheri was in the middle chapters of her life, with bonds formed across family, friendships, and community connections. Those who knew her will remember her for who she was in everyday moments — the small acts of kindness, the laughter, the routines, the unspoken ways she touched others’ lives. Her story, her name, and her impact will continue in the hearts of those who loved her.
And To the Third Precious Life
While the final identity has not yet been released, the tragedy of her loss is deeply felt already. She, too, was loved. She, too, had a life of meaning — memories, relationships, dreams, and moments now held in silence. May her identity, when confirmed, be honored with dignity, compassion, and respect.
This event serves as a painful reminder of how fragile life is and how quickly circumstances can change. It calls for communities to look out for one another, to speak love more loudly, to check in more often, and to hold compassion close.
As the investigation continues, what remains most important is the remembrance of the lives lost — not defined by the tragedy of their final day, but by the years of humanity, connection, and meaning they brought into the world.
May all three souls rest in eternal peace.
May those who loved them find strength and comfort.
And may their memories never fade, but continue to live on through the stories shared, the tears shed, and the love that remains.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
