In Loving Memory of Teashia Armstrong: A Beloved Hattiesburg Woman Gone Too Soon

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. — The Hattiesburg community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 61-year-old Teashia Armstrong, whose life was tragically cut short in the early morning hours of Thursday. The Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed that Armstrong was struck and killed along U.S. 49 after stepping out of her disabled vehicle. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m., in what authorities described as a sudden and tragic chain of events.

According to the preliminary report, Armstrong had been driving a 2003 Ford Expedition northbound on U.S. 49 when her vehicle became disabled, forcing her to stop in the right-hand lane. While outside of her vehicle, she was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 24-year-old Michael Tanner of Wiggins. Moments later, a second vehicle—a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by 47-year-old Sandy Cook, also of Wiggins—collided with Tanner’s truck. Though both drivers were physically unharmed, the devastating loss of Armstrong has left a deep emotional impact on all touched by the tragedy.

Teashia Armstrong was more than the details of a crash report—she was a mother, a relative, a friend, and a cherished member of her community. Those who knew her remember a woman with a warm smile, gentle spirit, and a heart that always leaned toward kindness. She was someone who cared deeply for others and offered support in quiet, meaningful ways.

To her family, the news of her passing has brought immense sorrow. They are remembering not just the circumstances of her death, but the fullness of her life—a life of hard work, love, resilience, and compassion. Her loss is not simply the loss of a life, but the loss of a presence—someone who filled rooms with comfort, conversation, and understanding.

The early morning hours can be a dangerous time on the road, and tragedies like this serve as a somber reminder of how quickly life can change. But even in the pain of such an unexpected loss, the community comes together in love and remembrance.

As her loved ones face the days ahead, they do so holding onto memories that will forever live in their hearts:

  • The laughter she shared
  • The wisdom she offered
  • The care she gave without hesitation
  • The love she carried for her family and community

Teashia Armstrong’s story will not be defined by tragedy, but by the life she lived and the people she touched along the way.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

May her family and friends find comfort, strength, and healing in the love she leaves behind.

Forever Remembered. Forever Loved.
