The community of Greer is mourning the heartbreaking and sudden loss of Steven James Kelly, age 34, who tragically passed away following a single-vehicle crash in Spartanburg County on Thursday evening. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the accident occurred around 7:55 p.m. on Brockman McClimon Road near Van Patton Road, just a few miles south of Greer—a stretch of roadway familiar to many local residents.
According to troopers, Steven was driving a 2016 GMC Canyon pickup truck traveling east when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. He was the only occupant in the vehicle. Emergency crews responded promptly, and Steven was transported to the hospital; however, despite medical efforts, he later passed away from his injuries. His passing was confirmed by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
