We are deeply heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Sean Egan ’21, a cherished member of our swim team, a 2021 graduate, and above all, a radiant spirit whose presence graced our lives in unforgettable ways. Sean was more than just a talented athlete—he was the heartbeat of our team, a brother in the lanes, and a friend whose kindness and strength left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
As an All-State swimmer, Sean’s accomplishments in the pool were remarkable. His work ethic was unmatched—every early morning practice, every challenging set, every meet he competed in, he gave everything he had. He swam with purpose, determination, and an unmistakable love for the sport. But what set Sean apart was not just his skill in the water, but the depth of his character outside of it. He embodied humility in victory, grace in defeat, and compassion at all times. He was the teammate who would stay after practice to encourage a younger swimmer, who would celebrate others’ wins as if they were his own, and who carried a smile that could brighten even the toughest days.
When Sean was diagnosed with cancer, he faced it the same way he approached everything in life—with courage, resilience, and an unbreakable spirit. Throughout his battle, Sean never let the disease define him. He continued to uplift others, to stay connected, and to share his light even in his darkest moments. In honor of Sean’s incredible strength and the example he set for us all, we are humbled to announce that going forward, our team’s “Unbreakable” Award will be renamed in his memory. The Sean Egan Unbreakable Award will stand as a tribute to his spirit—a spirit that never gave up, that never gave in, and that inspired all of us to be better athletes, better teammates, and better people.
