In Loving Memory of Officer Dominic Barthelemy End of Watch — October 23, 2025
With profound sadness, we mourn the unexpected passing of Officer Dominic Barthelemy, age 39, who died on the evening of October 23, 2025, while in upstate New York. His loss is felt deeply across the Danbury Police Department, among the colleagues who served beside him, and in the community he helped protect.
Officer Barthelemy dedicated his life to public service. He joined the Danbury Police Department in 2023 and served just over two years, assigned primarily to the overnight shift in the Patrol Division — the quiet and difficult hours when fewer people see the work, but safety still depends on it. Before coming to Danbury, he served for two years with the New York City Police Department and for nearly one year with the NYC Department of Corrections. In every uniform, at every post, Dominic brought courage, steadiness, and a commitment to the duty he swore to uphold.
His death is not only the loss of an officer, but of a son, a friend, a colleague, and a man whose presence, humor, and reliability wove him into the fabric of the lives around him. Behind every badge is a human being, and behind every human being is a circle of people who loved him long before he was called “Officer.” To them, the grief is immeasurable.
Chief Patrick Ridenhour and the members of the department stand in solidarity with Dominic’s family, friends, and fellow officers. We honor his service, we remember his character, and we carry forward the values he lived by. In this period of mourning, we ask for privacy for those closest to him and for compassion from the community he served.
May Officer Dominic Barthelemy be remembered not only for the uniform he wore, but for the life he lived — a life of service, integrity, and quiet sacrifice.
May his memory be a blessing, may his soul rest in peace, and may those who grieve him find strength in one another.
Rest in peace, Officer Barthelemy.
