It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Nicole L. Summerlin, PT, DPT, a beloved physical therapist and dedicated healthcare professional. Nicole’s sudden departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives she touched.
Nicole was an integral part of the OrthoArizona team, where she served patients with grace, skill, and compassion. For over a decade, she was committed to helping individuals regain their strength, mobility, and quality of life. As a specialist in orthopedic rehabilitation, Nicole worked tirelessly to provide personalized care, ensuring that each patient received the attention and dedication they deserved. She also held certifications in Astym® therapy, a groundbreaking technique aimed at treating soft tissue injuries, which she used to bring relief to countless patients.
Born and raised in the close-knit community of Northwest Iowa, Nicole’s roots in the heart of the Midwest shaped her compassionate and hardworking nature. She pursued higher education at Iowa State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Health Studies. Her journey continued at the University of Iowa, where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, becoming a proud member of the first Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) graduating class.
Nicole’s love for her profession was only matched by her devotion to the people in her life. She was a passionate advocate for animal rescue, dedicating her time to volunteering with various shelters and organizations. Nicole also enjoyed the peacefulness of nature, finding joy in hiking and spending time with her family. She had an infectious spirit and a deep love for her community, often making time to support causes that mattered to her.
Nicole’s warm smile, unwavering dedication, and genuine care for others will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, and a profound impact on the lives of all those who had the privilege of working with her or being under her care. Her kindness will never be forgotten, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone she helped.
Nicole is survived by her loving family and a wide circle of friends who will continue to carry her memory forward. We take solace in knowing that her passion for healing and her compassionate nature have left an indelible mark on the world.
