In Loving Memory of Nancy Sheridan – A Life of Grace, Devotion, and Community
Winnetka, IL – With profound sadness and hearts full of remembrance, we share the passing of Nancy Sheridan, a beloved resident of Winnetka, who departed this life on May 2, 2025. Nancy was 78 years old.
Nancy Sheridan was not just a cherished member of the Winnetka community — she was its heartbeat. Known for her unwavering compassion, grace, and quiet strength, Nancy spent her life nurturing others, whether through her family, her friendships, or her tireless work within the community. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew her, yet her spirit continues to shine brightly in the countless hearts she touched.
Born and raised in the Midwest, Nancy grew up with deep-rooted values of integrity, service, and kindness. She carried those values into every facet of her life. After graduating from college, she pursued a career in education, where her nurturing nature and keen intellect made her a beloved mentor to many. Her passion for learning and empathy for others made her a natural leader — one who led with humility and inspired those around her to do the same.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy was best known for her fierce devotion to family. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she gave her full heart to those she loved. Her home was a sanctuary of laughter, warmth, and unconditional support. She celebrated every milestone, offered strength in moments of hardship, and lived her values daily in the way she cared for others.
Nancy was also deeply committed to community engagement, dedicating countless hours to local organizations, literacy initiatives, and faith-based programs. She was particularly active with her congregation at North Shore Congregation Israel, where she not only found spiritual grounding but offered the same to others as a steady presence in times of joy and sorrow. Her sense of civic responsibility, paired with her gentle leadership, helped shape a more compassionate, inclusive community.
Friends and loved ones remember Nancy for her radiant smile, her quick wit, and her steadfast presence. Whether volunteering at a local food drive, organizing neighborhood events, or simply sending a handwritten note to someone in need, Nancy gave of herself with no expectation of return. She lived with quiet purpose and abundant love.
A memorial service to honor Nancy Sheridan’s life will be held on Sunday, May 5, at 2:00 PM at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe. All who knew her are warmly invited to attend, share memories, and celebrate a life so beautifully lived.
Nancy is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren, whose lives reflect the values she held dear. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, whom she often described as her life’s greatest gift and partner in all things.
As we mourn the loss of Nancy, we also give thanks — for the love she gave, the lives she enriched, and the legacy she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to be a blessing, etched into the very fabric of the community she helped to build.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Nancy’s memory to a local educational or community service organization, continuing her lifelong dedication to helping others grow and thrive.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be forever cherished.
