In Loving Memory Of Mr. Timothy “Tim” Marciniak Beloved Principal • Mentor • Friend 1964 – 2025

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the Bay City Public Schools (BCPS) community mourns the passing of Mr. Tim Marciniak, a deeply respected educator, mentor, and leader whose influence on generations of students and colleagues is beyond measure.

This morning, BCPS shared the heartbreaking news that Mr. Marciniak passed away, leaving behind a legacy defined by excellence, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the students of Bay City Central High School, where he proudly served as principal for over three decades.

For 31 years, Mr. Marciniak was a cornerstone of the Bay City education community — a man whose passion for teaching and leadership transformed countless lives. As the longest-serving principal in the 100+ year history of Bay City Central High School, his name became synonymous with the very spirit of the school. From classrooms to hallways, from athletic fields to graduation ceremonies, his presence was constant — a steady reminder of what it means to lead with purpose, kindness, and integrity.

A Life Devoted to Education and Service

Mr. Marciniak began his career in education with a simple but powerful belief: every student has potential, and every day is an opportunity to help them reach it. That philosophy guided him throughout his years at BCPS. Whether it was greeting students by name each morning, cheering from the sidelines at football games, or staying late to support staff, he led by example — with humility, warmth, and genuine care.

Colleagues describe him as a visionary educator who valued not only academic excellence but also character, empathy, and community. His door was always open, whether a student needed guidance, a teacher needed support, or a parent needed reassurance. Under his leadership, Bay City Central flourished as a place of learning, belonging, and pride.

“Tim believed in people — in their goodness, their potential, and their ability to make a difference,” said a fellow administrator. “He made you want to be better — not just as a student or teacher, but as a human being.”

A Leader, Mentor, and Friend

To his staff, Mr. Marciniak was more than a principal — he was a mentor, a role model, and often, a friend. His leadership style combined accountability with compassion. He encouraged innovation and celebrated collaboration, always reminding others that education was about empowering lives, not just teaching lessons.

Students remember him for his warm smile, his contagious enthusiasm, and his deep belief in their potential. He had a remarkable way of making every student feel seen and valued, whether through a few encouraging words, a congratulatory handshake, or a heartfelt letter.

Many graduates credit him with helping them find direction and purpose, long after leaving the halls of Bay City Central. His influence rippled outward — into colleges, careers, and communities across the country.

A Community in Mourning

The news of Mr. Marciniak’s passing has left the entire Bay City community heartbroken. BCPS staff, alumni, and families have flooded social media with tributes, sharing stories of his kindness, his leadership, and his ability to make everyone feel like part of something greater.

“He was the heartbeat of Bay City Central,” one former student wrote. “His love for this school and for all of us never wavered. He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself — and I’ll carry that forever.”

Another colleague added, “Tim led with heart. He built a legacy that will live on in every classroom, every hallway, and every student who walks through our doors.”

Honoring His Legacy

In tribute to his extraordinary service, Bay City Central High School will honor Mr. Marciniak during tonight’s homecoming celebration, where a moment of silence will be held to remember and reflect on his immeasurable contributions.

While the community gathers in shared sorrow, there will also be gratitude — gratitude for the years he gave, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared so freely with all.

Plans for a public memorial and celebration of life will be announced in the coming days, allowing students, alumni, and staff to pay their respects and honor the man who gave so much to his school and community.

Forever a Part of Bay City

Mr. Marciniak’s impact will live on — in the achievements of his students, in the compassion of his colleagues, and in the pride that continues to define Bay City Central. His leadership shaped not only a school but an entire generation, and his influence will be felt for decades to come.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, children, and grandchildren, who were his greatest joy and constant inspiration. To them, and to all who had the privilege of knowing him, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences.

“Once a Wolf, Always a Wolf”

As the Bay City Central Wolves family mourns this tremendous loss, one thing remains certain — Mr. Marciniak’s spirit will forever echo through the halls he walked, the students he guided, and the hearts he touched.

“Once a Wolf, Always a Wolf,” he often reminded his students. And now, those words will serve as both comfort and tribute to a man who embodied the very heart of what it means to be a Wolf.
