In Loving Memory of Macaria Ambriz Espino
CHELAN, WASHINGTON — The tight-knit communities of Bridgeport and Chelan are mourning the heartbreaking loss of 42-year-old Macaria Ambriz Espino, who tragically lost her life in a devastating head-on collision Tuesday afternoon along State Route 97. The fatal crash occurred near milepost 236, just north of the Beebe Bridge, and has left friends, family, and neighbors reeling in grief over the sudden and untimely passing of a beloved woman whose life touched many.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened around 2:41 p.m. when a southbound 2019 Ford F-350, driven by 52-year-old Wayne L. Hensey of East Wenatchee, crossed the centerline and struck Macaria’s northbound 2007 Hyundai Sonata head-on. Despite the quick response of emergency crews, Macaria was pronounced dead at the scene. Hensey was transported to Chelan Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
News of Macaria’s death has sent waves of sorrow through Bridgeport, where she was known not only as a devoted mother, daughter, and friend, but also as a kind and hardworking woman whose presence brought light and warmth to all who knew her. Those closest to her describe her as compassionate, humble, and deeply family-oriented — someone who worked tirelessly for her loved ones and greeted each day with quiet strength and a gentle smile.
Macaria’s life was defined by love — love for her family, for her community, and for the people she met along the way. Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void, not only in the hearts of her family but also in the many lives she touched through her kindness and sincerity.
