In Loving Memory of Luh Myca Gone Too Soon, Forever in Our Hearts

The Birmingham community is grieving the tragic loss of Luh Myca, who passed away Saturday afternoon after being shot in the Ensley neighborhood. His death marks the second homicide in the city within just five hours — a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life is and how deeply violence continues to affect our communities.

The incident began around 3:15 p.m. when the wounded victim arrived at Birmingham Fire Station 16 on Avenue K, seeking help. First responders and Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel acted quickly, rushing him to UAB Hospital in an effort to save his life. Despite their best efforts, he later passed away from his injuries, leaving loved ones devastated and a community in shock.

Investigators have since determined that the shooting occurred in the 2600 block of Avenue K, only steps away from Ensley Park — a place where kids play, families gather, and life is meant to feel safe. According to officials, ShotSpotter technology recorded nearly two dozen rounds fired, capturing the intensity and chaos of the moment that forever changed so many lives.

But beyond the details of the incident, there was a life—a young man known, loved, and cherished by many. Luh Myca was more than a victim of violence. He was a son, a friend, a presence, and a soul whose smile, energy, and spirit meant something to the people around him. To those who knew him, he was warm, funny, loyal, and real. He had dreams, potential, and a life that stretched ahead of him — a life that should have continued.

Family and friends are left with memories that now feel heavier than ever — conversations, moments, laughter, shared plans, and the understanding that things will never be the same. His loss is not just the loss of one life, but the ripple of heartbreak that spreads across every life he touched.

The Ensley community is shaken, yet united in love, grief, and remembrance. Candles, prayers, hugs, and tears are being shared among those trying to find meaning in this tragedy. When violence claims a life, it leaves behind more than silence — it leaves behind the love that remains, the stories that will be told, and the determination to honor the life that was taken.

To the family of Luh Myca:

Your pain is seen. Your sorrow is felt. Your loved one mattered — deeply. May you find comfort in your memories and in the support of those who stand with you during this time of unimaginable loss.

To the community:

Let us hold each other close. Let us speak his name. Let us strive for peace, healing, and protection of one another.

Rest in peace, Luh Myca.

Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved you.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.
