In Loving Memory of Kurt Lentz
April 11, 2025 – A Hero Remembered, A Legacy Honored
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved brother, Kurt Lentz, who passed away on April 11, 2025. Kurt was not only a cherished member of our Fire Department but also a shining example of strength, service, and selflessness within the entire Georgetown community. His passing leaves an indescribable void in the hearts of his family, friends, fellow firefighters, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As a close-knit fire family, we are reeling from the weight of this loss. Firefighters form a unique bond forged through shared sacrifice, duty, and a deep commitment to protecting others. Kurt embodied that bond with quiet humility and unwavering courage. His legacy within our department is more than his years of dedicated service—it’s the countless lives he touched, the guidance he offered to his peers, and the unshakable calm he brought to even the most chaotic moments. He was the kind of firefighter you wanted beside you when the alarm rang—and the kind of friend you could always count on.
Kurt’s strength went beyond his uniform. He was a man of deep character, loyalty, and compassion. Whether responding to a call or mentoring a new recruit, he gave his all, every time. He served the City of Georgetown with great pride, always putting the safety and well-being of others before his own. To the public, he was a hero. To us, he was a brother.
In these difficult days and weeks ahead, our hearts, prayers, and unwavering support are with Kurt’s wife, son, and entire family. This is an unimaginable loss, and we ask our community to honor the family’s privacy as they navigate this heartbreaking time. The outpouring of love and condolences has been a testament to the immense impact Kurt had on so many lives. We are deeply grateful for your compassion and solidarity.
Though words can never fully express the depth of our sorrow, we also take time to celebrate the extraordinary life Kurt lived. He was a protector, a mentor, a loving husband and father, and a steady light in difficult times. He brought warmth to our firehouse, courage to our mission, and a sense of unity to our team. His legacy will live on in the stories we share, the lives he helped save, and the example he set for generations to come.
