Auberry Homicide Victim Identified
Members of the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit have identified 43 year old Joie Carrell of Fresno as the man killed in Auberry last week.
Around 11:30 am on Friday, November 14, dispatchers with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office received a report from Auberry of a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies responded to the area to search for a victim, but were unable to find anyone right away.
Around 12:20 pm, a CHP officer assisting on the call, discovered an injured person along Old Auberry Road, just north of Auberry Road. The person, later identified as Joie Carrell, was determined to be deceased. Sheriff’s homicide detectives and our Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to begin an investigation.
Specific details about Carrell’s injuries are not being released, but they are consistent with a homicide. Identifying a suspect and determining a motive for this killing remain key parts of this ongoing investigation.
