In Loving Memory of Jake Mosser, HonPSA, EPSA, HonNEC — A Pillar of the Photographic Community
With a heavy heart and profound sorrow, we share the news of the passing of Jake Mosser, HonPSA, EPSA, HonNEC, a legendary figure in the world of photography, a mentor to many, and a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jake passed away peacefully last night at 10:30 p.m., following a stroke and a massive brain bleed. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, wisdom, and immense contributions will live on forever in the hearts of the New England photographic community and beyond.
Jake’s journey through the world of photography was marked not only by remarkable talent and technical mastery but by a selfless dedication to education, mentorship, and community. He was a guiding light for countless photographers — both emerging and experienced — generously sharing his time, knowledge, and boundless passion for the art form. His accolades, including distinctions such as HonPSA, EPSA, and HonNEC, only begin to reflect the scope of his impact and the deep respect he garnered throughout the photographic world.
Over the years, Jake became a cornerstone of the New England Camera Club Council and a central figure at the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, where his leadership and vision helped shape programs that have benefited generations of photographers. Whether behind the camera, leading a workshop, judging competitions, or simply offering a kind word of encouragement, Jake did everything with humility, warmth, and a sincere love for the craft.
To those who knew him personally, Jake was much more than a photographer. He was a steadfast friend, a source of strength and humor, and a beacon of support in both creative and personal pursuits. His absence leaves a void that words can scarcely capture.
In accordance with his and his family’s wishes, Jake will be cremated, and there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in July or August at the Greater Lynn Headquarters, where friends, family, and members of the photographic community will come together to honor his extraordinary life, share memories, and pay tribute to a man who touched so many.
Our hearts are especially with Susan, Jake’s beloved wife, during this unimaginably difficult time. Susan, please know that you are surrounded by the love, thoughts, and prayers of a community that grieves with you and stands ready to support you in any way we can.
This is an incredibly sad moment for us all. We have lost a legend, but Jake’s legacy will continue to inspire and guide the photographic community for years to come. His images, his mentorship, and his spirit will remain a part of us always.
Rest in peace, Jake. Your light will never fade.
