In Loving Memory of Isaiah Maxi [ZayZae]
“The world shined a little brighter because you were in it.”

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isaiah Maxi, lovingly known as “ZayZae”, a beautiful soul whose light touched countless lives in his 27 years on this Earth. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Isaiah was a source of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness to all who knew him. His sudden departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

A Life Full of Purpose

Isaiah attended Center High School, where he made his mark not only as a gifted student but also as a multi-sport athlete, known for his discipline, drive, and sportsmanship. His talents on the field were only rivaled by his charisma off of it. He later pursued higher education at Fort Hays State University, where he furthered his passion for working with youth, community service, and environmental causes.

ZayZae’s life was one of purpose—he never simply passed through a place, he left a mark. Whether you knew him personally or crossed paths with him briefly, you remembered him. He radiated warmth and had an uncanny ability to turn strangers into friends, and friends into family.

A Heart for Service

Isaiah was more than a brother, son, uncle, and friend—he was a dedicated volunteer and community leader, known by many through his page, Max The Volunteer. His passion for helping others knew no bounds. From organizing youth mentorship programs to leading community clean-ups and food drives, Isaiah lived with intention and love.

He was especially passionate about connecting with nature, often hiking and exploring local trails. His most remarkable journey was when he walked the entire Katy Trail across Missouri, not just for the adventure, but to raise awareness about mental health and to inspire others to unplug and reconnect with the world around them. That journey became a symbol of his spirit—bold, grounded, intentional, and full of love for people and this planet.

“He never met a stranger, only friends,” one person wrote, perfectly summarizing his open-hearted approach to life.

Uncle ZayZae – A Family’s Guiding Light

To his family, Isaiah was everything. He was a cherished brother to Emmaniel Maxi, a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews—“Uncle ZayZae” was the superhero in their young eyes. Whether it was playing games, cracking jokes, or just being a listening ear, Isaiah made each child feel loved and seen. His absence will be deeply felt, especially by the little ones who adored him unconditionally.

“Our kids’ Uncle ZayZae will be missed so much,” the family shared. “He was such a bright spirit—funny, witty, and full of love. He made this world better just by being in it.”

Remembering ZayZae

Isaiah lived his life with compassion, grace, and quiet strength. He didn’t chase applause; he chased meaning. He gave more than he ever asked for. And although he was single, his heart belonged to his family, his community, and the youth he mentored with love and dedication.

A friend wrote in a Facebook post:

“I swear the best people get taken from this world. You can see the impact he left behind on his volunteer page Max The Volunteer. RIP Isaiah, we love you dearly. You will be missed.”

And indeed, he will be. But Isaiah’s legacy will live on in every young life he touched, in every act of kindness he inspired, and in every step taken down the Katy Trail by those who follow his path.

A Community in Mourning, A Family in Need of Prayer

Please keep Emmaniel Maxi, the entire Maxi family, and all of us who loved Isaiah in your thoughts and prayers during this unimaginably painful time. The family is asking for space to grieve privately but deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support.

In the coming days, details regarding a celebration of life service and opportunities to honor Isaiah’s memory through community service projects will be shared.

In Honor of Isaiah

If you wish to honor Isaiah’s memory, consider volunteering in your own community, mentoring a young person, or simply spending time in nature—he would have loved that. His life is a reminder that even in a short amount of time, one can leave behind a legacy of love, hope, and change.

Rest in power, Isaiah Maxi.
May your spirit walk the trails of heaven with the same joy and purpose you walked here on Earth.
You are deeply loved. You are eternally missed.
