It is with profound sadness that the Raleigh, North Carolina community mourns the unexpected passing of Dr. Anthony L. “Tony” Horalek, DDS, MS, a respected endodontist and the founder of North Raleigh Endodontics. Dr. Horalek died by suicide, leaving behind a legacy of professional excellence, artistic talent, and compassionate care that touched countless lives.
A Life of Dedication and Achievement
Dr. Horalek’s journey into dentistry was marked by a unique blend of artistic and scientific pursuits. He began his academic career at the Kansas City Art Institute, studying design and illustration, before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. In 1995, he graduated with highest distinction from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, serving as valedictorian and class president. His commitment to excellence continued with an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Fort Lewis, Washington, and a Certificate of Residency in Endodontics along with a Master of Science in Dentistry from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002. Furthering his education, Dr. Horalek obtained an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in 2017.
Throughout his career, Dr. Horalek combined his artistic sensibilities with dental science, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. His practice, North Raleigh Endodontics, was known for its patient-centered approach and commitment to cutting-edge technology. Beyond his clinical work, he was active in organized dentistry at the county, state, and national levels.
