In Loving Memory of Deserie Cincotti Gone Too Soon, Forever Remembered
The Buena community and surrounding areas are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Deserie Cincotti, a 48-year-old woman whose life was tragically cut short in a pedestrian accident on the evening of Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The fatal incident occurred along Route 322 near Custard Castle in Hamilton Township, a stretch of roadway that has seen its share of danger for pedestrians attempting to cross without a designated crosswalk.
According to the Township of Hamilton Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 7:38 p.m. after reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Preliminary findings indicate that a 2021 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Debbie Rice, 56, of Pittsgrove, was traveling westbound in the right-hand lane of Route 322 when it struck Deserie, who was attempting to cross the roadway. Despite the quick response of emergency personnel, Deserie Cincotti was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. Debbie Rice was not injured in the collision.
The area was closed for several hours as investigators from the Township of Hamilton Police Department, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit, and other assisting agencies worked to reconstruct the tragic events. Responding units included the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad and the Mays Landing Fire Department, who provided support at the scene.
Deserie was known by those closest to her as a kind, compassionate, and spirited woman whose heart was always open to helping others. Friends and family remember her for her generosity and her ability to bring comfort and laughter to those around her. Whether she was spending time with loved ones, lending a helping hand to a neighbor, or simply sharing a smile, Deserie’s presence had a way of brightening every room she entered.
Her loss has left an immeasurable void in the lives of her family and friends, who are now left to navigate the deep grief of losing someone so dear. The Buena community has expressed an outpouring of sympathy, remembering Deserie not just for how she died, but for how she lived — with love, resilience, and grace.
As authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the crash, those who knew Deserie are focusing on honoring her memory through reflection, remembrance, and love. A candlelight vigil is being planned by friends and community members to celebrate her life and to bring awareness to the need for safer pedestrian pathways along Route 322.
Deserie Cincotti’s passing is a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of road safety for both drivers and pedestrians. She will forever be remembered for the warmth she brought into the world and the lives she touched during her 48 beautiful years.
